On August 1, the 2026 SAIC Volkswagen Tharu XR was officially launched, offering five variants in total. As a facelift model, the 2026 Volkswagen Tharu XR . The update mainly focuses on feature adjustments, with the addition of a new 1.5L Premium Edition.

In terms of exterior design, the 2026 Volkswagen Tharu XR shows no major styling changes. It continues to offer two styling packages—a Chrome Edition and a Black Package Edition. The Black Package comes with a sporty all-black kit, including black side mirrors, black wheels, and black body emblems.

Regarding dimensions, the Volkswagen Tharu specs remain at 4,355 / 1,762 / 1,605 mm (length/width/height) with a 2,651 mm wheelbase. For colors, the 2026 model drops Breeze Green, while Moonlight White and Salt Gray are available across all variants, with Vivid Pink and Energetic Blue offered on select trims.

Inside, the 2026 Volkswagen Tharu interior continues with a D-shaped multifunction steering wheel and an integrated instrument cluster. Physical buttons are retained below the center screen for practicality. The SUV uses a 2+3 seating layout, and the Volkswagen Tharu trunk space can expand from 445 L to 1,443 L when the rear seats are folded.

Compared with the previous model, the newly added 1.5L Premium Edition is the top trim among the 1.5L engine variants. It comes standard with the Black Package kit, leather seats, 6-way power adjustment for the driver’s seat, heated front seats, a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and adaptive cruise control.

The 2026 Volkswagen Tharu XR SUV continues to offer two powertrain options. The 1.5L naturally aspirated engine with a maximum output of 81 kW and peak torque of 141 Nm, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 300TSI model with a 1.5T engine, producing 118 kW and 250 Nm, matched with a 7-speed dry dual-clutch transmission.
